Ready-made scenario · Team building
Goldberg Machine
A chain reaction team building game for 10 to 70 people. Every team builds one part of a giant Rube Goldberg machine. At the finale, one push sets the whole thing off, and it only runs if every team did its job.

The story
A marble rolls down a ramp, knocks over a line of dominoes, tips a cup, pulls a string, rings a bell. Your team builds all of it.
The group splits into crews of five to eight. Each crew gets a stretch of the table and a box of everyday objects, and designs its own part of the machine. The catch: every part has to pick up the motion from the crew before it and pass it cleanly to the next one. So the crews have to agree on the handoffs, test them together and fix what breaks.
While the crews build, our coordinator watches how each group works together and shares that feedback with everyone afterward. Each crew also gets a few minutes on their own to talk through how their part went before the final run.
The finale is one continuous run in front of everyone. We film it, and the slow‑motion replay is usually the most‑watched video in the company chat that week.
How it plays out
- 01
Mission briefing
The host explains the goal, the rules and the finale. Crews get their building kits and their spot in the chain.
- 02
Design and build
Each crew designs and builds its segment, then agrees the handoff with its neighbours.
- 03
Test runs
Crews connect their parts and run the chain in sections. Things fail, crews fix them, the machine gets better.
- 04
The big run
Everyone gathers, one person starts the chain and the whole machine runs from the first marble to the final bell.
- 05
Replay and awards
Slow‑motion replay, awards for the most creative segment and the save of the day, and a short debrief.
What it builds
- Collaboration between teams, not just inside them
- Clear handoffs and communication
- Creative problem solving under a deadline
- A shared win the whole company sees
